Queen Supersedure

We were looking through the hives yesterday and found one hive with two queens.

Both queens on the same frame, the new queen is difficult to see and Roger is pointing her out but she is partially covered with workers. The old queen marked green is on the far right hand side of the photo:

Shortly after taking these photos the new queen flew off the frame on a short flight and landed back onto the top of the frames in the hive. We put the hive back together to let them sort it out
